How long have you been a member of MAND? Joined in October
Why did you join MAND? To become more involved in order to better promote health and nutrition in the community and surrounding areas as well as connecting with other dietitians and healthcare professionals in the area.
How has membership in MAND been of value to you and your practice? I have met several other dietitians in the area and have been able to learn further nutrition and dietary lessons through speakers at the monthly meetings.
Tell us about yourself, your job, and what you find most interesting about your job. I am a dietetic intern at the VA here in Memphis. I am from Fort Wayne, IN and completed my undergrad degree at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. I have really enjoyed getting to meet and help the veterans and the different situations that each one of them brings to the table in terms of dietary needs.
How did you get into this field? I have always been interested in the health field since I was very young. During college, I realized I wanted to help others around me through improving overall health by dietary and lifestyle changes
Biography (I was raised in Fort Wayne, IN. I have two younger brothers and three dogs. I participated in competitive gymnastics for 14 years and ran track for several years. I went to Samford University for my undergraduate. In addition to studying nutrition and dietetics, I coached gymnastics and worked for Young Life in Birmingham. I am currently residing in Memphis, TN as a dietetic intern.
Please list a few of your most recent accomplishments. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in May 2011 and am in a dietetic Internship at the VA Medical Center in Memphis.
